FROM PASTOR JIM’S DESK |
You might have heard the old story of a missionary's talk with an American Indian chief about sin. The chief explained the struggle with sin and temptation as him having the two strong dogs of Good and Evil fighting within him. And the missionary asked, "And which one of them wins?" The Chief's answer: "The one I say 'sic 'em' to!"
His simplistic answer contains a world of truth! Christian, take this as if I were speaking directly to YOU! For I am! Whether you are a member or regular attender of our church family, or one afar off, your dealing with the sin issue that lurks in the wings of every Christian's life must be handled with care!
The Scripture tells us that Satan is roaming this world seeking those he can devour. On the other hand, Jesus says that He has overcome the world. So it seems that you and I have choices to make. We can either open our door to the Devil and allow him to gain a foothold in the family of God through our actions and attitudes, or we can depend on the Great Overcomer to guard and guide our words, our communications with each other, our willingness to settle issues in a biblical way, and our learning to forgive as we have been forgiven.
So in this time of spiritual renewal, the decision squarely up to YOU! "Choose you this day whom YOU will serve!" By your actions I trust that you will be a valuable member who joins the family in affirming that "As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD!"
Now let us continue to march in lockstep into God's great Plan for us!
Pastor Jim
